Like many rock and roll legends, Barry White started out as a studio musician. His specialty was drums. Sonny Curtis, a former Cricket with Buddy Holly, wrote "I Fought the Law" for Buddy. The song would have been perfect for Holly but fate had other plans. Buddy along with Richie Valens and the Big Bopper died in a plane crash.
Months after his death, the Crickets did record the song but it went nowhere.
A few years went by when the Bobby Fuller Four decided to cover a song written for Buddy Holly. Next time you hear it, "hear" how perfect the song would have been for Holly.
Little known studio drummer Barry White the drummer on that famous session that took "I Fought the Law" into the top 10.
